Food has played an intricate part
early in Iris Richardson’s life. She
started her culinary career as a chef
apprentice in Germany. There she
trained under many well established
chefs. As a chef she sought out some
of the most beautiful resort towns
and hotels in Europe: a charming
small establishment in Garmisch-
Partenkirchen, Bavaria, and grand five
star hotels in Davos and Interlaken,
Switzerland. Today she lives right
outside Philadelphia photographing
what she loves best, Food. When she
is not photographing in her studio or
on location you will find her outside
in her large garden taking pictures of

“You are a pleasure to work with. Very knowledgeable about food, photography and how they come together. Your are a good listener and mentor for me. There is nothing you can't do if you put your mind to it. Reliable, loyal, reasonable and an all around beautiful person. I forgot to mention talented and always trying to move forward and learn new things. I always love hearing from you. I am one of your biggest fans because of your big heart.”
“Warm, genuine, hard working, great sense of humor, patient, organized, giving...
I think there are a lot more wonderful things I've seen with you, about you over the years. But this is a good start.
I have the privilege and honor to know Iris Richardson for over two years now, both as a customer, colleague and as a friend. I know nothing about Food Photography, but I have had the pleasure to have had both professional portraits and birthday party portraits taken by her. Furthermore, Iris frequently takes pictures for a German school in Delaware, where we both teach. Her work there enriches many people’s lives and touches their hearts. Iris definitely has a photographer’s eye for moments, compositions and moods. Her portraits are wonderful, she is a seasoned professional and she executes fast. If I had half the energy that Iris has, I would be a better person in my own life for it. Iris brightens many, many people’s days by her energy, her friendly and positive go-getter attitude. If I need solid work done or an honest opinion, I know I can trust Iris Richardson 100%.
I've known Iris Richardson for twenty years. During that time I've had the pleasure of collaborating with Iris in her role as chef, food stylist and most of all food photographer. Beside the obvious link that connects these three skills there is an underlying framework built on Iris' obsessive attention to detail. Her food photos are lively, contemporary and, like a signature dish, they stimulate the senses without unnecessary embellishment. There are many people who have embraced the mantra of "do one thing and do it well". But there are very few people who have parlayed that mindset across three successful careers.
I can not say enough how pleased I am to have had Iris Richardson’s photo on the cover of my book RawSome Recipes. I just love that photo and believe it made the cover of my book shine and stand out from the crowd. Iris is a wonderful person to work with and I highly recommend this talented food stylist and photographer!
